Did you have fun with the lindy hop quiz? I had fun making it and testing your knowledge of history, dance legends and teachers. Do you disagree with any of the answers or your “Dance level?”

Was it too hard? Too easy? What would you have asked?

  1. Hi Tam – Well I took this test with little to no knowledge. I guessed at all my answers. My score was a 71! Guess I’ve learned a little by hearing you talk about it because my shoes have not stepped foot on a swing dance floor! :-) Cute quiz. Do another one!

  2. Surprised myself with 89/100
Not too shabby for an Irishman..
Thanks for putting the quiz together, and I must say I like your tone throughout your articles. Warm and personal, looking forward to reading more.

    • Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment! WTG on the quiz! I’ve got my fictional gal going to Ireland in the second book (which I’m just finishing: The Girl in the Jitterbug Hops the Atlantic).I hope I can come dance over there in real life some day!

      Tam

      • That’s interesting- where in Ireland does your heroine visit? And where would you visit if you were to hop the pond? Now that I think of it, there are a number of really good writing and storytelling festivals.

http://writersweek.ie/ (this one happens a week before a Lindy Hop and Blues weekend in the same region). Two Birds, One Stone.

        • She goes to Cork and Blarney and then to Dublin to the famous Mercantile Hotel. The pictures of the joint looked gorgeous and worked for the context of the story. I would so love to visit one day. We’re looking into doing a home-exchange for vacation, maybe next year. We live in a pretty desirable location in Texas, so who knows, maybe someone would want to trade with us. There’s loads of websites about it. :)

Thanks for stopping by. Sorry it took so long to reply, I had to find in the novel where I had written about her going to Ireland ;)

          Tam

        • Well, that’s a funny coincidence.
I grew up in Blarney, and have lived in Cork city for the last 10 years. I also lived in Dublin for 5 years, I know the Mercantile well.
I’ll have to get my hands on a copy of your novel now!

As for coming to visit, let me know if your plans work out. I’d be more than happy to show you some of the sights,

          Daragh

          • Hee hee. How cool! The Ireland chapters are in the sequel and I haven’t sold the first yet, but I’m hopeful. In final stages of Ghostoria: Vintage Romantic Tales of Fright, and then will get back to querying agents for Jitterbug Dress. I’ll keep you posted and if we get over there, I’ll take you up on your offer :) Thanks!

  3. I love quizzes and trivia so this was fun! I don’t know much about the history of swing dance (I’d like to though) so most of my answers were guesses, but I did manage to score 64/100. I look forward to following your blog and getting that score up. :)

    • Great job! I see you like old movies. Check out some of my movie blogs and let me know if you’d like to do a 40s movie review, especially one with great music and or dancing :) I’m open to guest bloggers that can hang with the vintage! Thanks for stopping by!

      Tam

      • Hi Tam. I love your site and look forward to the release of your book. I’d love to do a 40s movie review for your blog, and would be more than happy to have you as a guest on my site as well, if you’re interested. It wouldn’t even have to be a movie review. I’m sure many of my readers are interested in all things vintage. Feel free to contact me with your guest post requirements or any questions, http://oldmoviesnostalgia.com/about/contact/. Thanks!

  4. It was fun to do it! I got 82/100. I’m really surprised. :)

    • I tried to make a couple tricky ones and some of them you get points for being close! WTG! I just thought it would be a fun summer thing to do! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Feel free to browse around.

      Tam

  5. This was so much fun! I got 91/100. Thank you for making this!
