The Girl in the Jitterbug Dress Dances in the Dark

The novel is finally available in paperback and ebook. I had wanted to do a much bigger event, but since things really aren’t turning a corner yet with the Covid-19 pandemic, and I’ve had so many requests, I finally, let the novel go into the world.

I started the first novel in the series, The Girl in the Jitterbug Dress ten years ago, never imagining I would have six books ( three in the Jitterbug Dress series, two anthologies, and one 1920s murder-mystery, time travel) under my belt and more to come. We watched June grow from a precocious high schooler to a woman of the world and we followed Violet from San Diego, to early Las Vegas, to war torn Europe. I’ve loved living with these amazing women and think you will, too.

I’m sad to finish their stories, but excited about my next project. I’m currently doing NaNoWriMo and writing a dystopian (which I’ve always wanted to write) but with my nod to vintage fashion, dance, and music.

Dances in the Dark Novel Synopsis

Go back in time with Violet as she travels across war torn Europe as part of a WWII USO Foxhole Tour.

Crossing the Atlantic during WWII, Violet’s transport endures a savage storm. Her ship becomes a rescue vessel for a few of Hollywood’s elite actresses, bringing them together under one USO banner.

Arriving in Europe, the women are divided into smaller groups. Violet’s unit is sent to Scotland, Morocco, Spain, and France where they come face to face with the Gestapo on a harrowing night of terror and death.

Fifty years later, June’s life seems to be in full swing as she and James find the apartment of their dreams and land a television gig on a popular morning show.

Tragedy strikes their perfect world when June is diagnosed with a mysterious illness that threatens to take away two of things she loves most: swing dancing and James.

Reaching across generations, can Violet lead June out of the dark and into the light?

Dances in the Dark, the last book in the Jitterbug Dress trilogy, illuminates the inner courage of two women in different eras fighting for their lives and loves.

Dances in the Dark Novel Reviews

“Wow!” This is the last book of the Girl in the Jitterbug Dress trilogy and the story finishes with a bang. So much happened and I am still processing it. The 1940s story line was so real, I could clearly visualize and even hear everything! It was all so vivid! What an adventure with highs and lows that really hit me emotionally. Junes story was inspiring especially this year with all its trials, and anxiety. This book is validating and inspiring, joyful, suspenseful, sexy, romantic, and I laughed and cried.
I was riveted right away and satisfied by the ending.

This book is the last in a series but also stands alone as an engaging and entertaining read. The characters come alive and feel like old friends leading to a tinge of sadness when it’s over. The accurate historical details and intriguing characters will have you looking forward to each page turn. You’ll not regret spending time in this amazing story!

I loved this book! It’s clever, fun, and sexy. The author seems to have such a great working knowledge of the time period, making for a lush backdrop for the story. I highly recommend this read!
